A circular story is a story that follows a circular pattern.  They have the same begining and the same end.  It follows a series of events that return to the starting point.  Having a circular plot is a good resource for introducing student prediction strategies.  The repetition encourages students to predict what events will happen next in the story.  Numeroff's books are great for kids to make predictions about what happens next.
Eventually, students “internalize these strategies and use them on their own to make sense of texts they listen to or read independently” (Moss, 68).
You can use this in the classroom with other lessons like with science the pattern of the life cycle. With social studies and you can practice the names of countries or states and use a ball to toss around the room and have each student say a state.  Students can repeat colors and other ideas.
Reading can be fun when you show the kids that  you are excited to read the book.  It's important because the child will develop a more positive attitude toward reading.  It's also important to chose books that are age appropriate and intresting to them.  You can have a reading circle on the floor instead of reading on their desks.  The students will enjoy the story more if they have an activity will the book.  Like an art activity or a pass around a stuffed animal character, or even a food described in the story.

  1. Leslie excellent circular story definition. I also agree that an important factor in making reading fun for students is showing interest in reading yourself. Also know your students and provide lots of genres that they will be interesting in reading.
