The Writing Process:
There are five steps in the writing process. The stages are prewriting, drafting, revising, editing and publishing. 1. Prewriting is when we put all are ideas and thoughts on paper. When we do prewriting we choose a topic, identify the audience for whom they will write and organize thoughts. Graphic organizers are great for this step. Prewriting activities like talking, drawing can help come up with a topic.
2. The second step is drafting. This is when we put our thoughts on paper. We put our ideas on paper without worrying about speling and punctuation. Here we should write on every other line to leave space for revisions. Here we can modify earlier decisions about purpose, audience and the form of writing.
3. The third step is revising. During revising we change add or delete sentences, content and ideas. Here it is really good if sudents work in groups to revise eachothers papers. Opinions and suggestions from others help us in our writings. Focus on word choice is good at this step.
4. The fourth step is editing. During this step we correct spelling, capitalization, sentence structure and writing forms. Partners during this step is also good.
5. Step five is publishing. In this step we bring our compositions to life by sharing them orally or hanging it on walls. This is when I feel proud of myself for completing the entire process.
